KIFF 2026 Celebrates 10 Years of Youth Cinema

Why We Recommend it
KIFF 2026 celebrates its 10th edition with global children’s cinema, from award-winning animation to bold coming-of-age stories.
Description
From 18 July to 2 August, the Hong Kong International Kids’ Film Festival (KIFF) marks its landmark 10th edition with thoughtful, imaginative programming for young audiences. Organised by 3Space in collaboration with Golden Scene Cinema, this year’s festival presents a curated selection of films from across Asia, Europe and the Americas, spanning animation, fantasy and coming-of-age storytelling. Moving between the intimate and the fantastical, KIFF continues to position children’s cinema as a space for artistic experimentation and cultural exchange, reaffirming its role in nurturing curiosity and expanding the horizons of young viewers.
Highlights include My Life in Versailles, a tender, César-nominated animation that follows a young girl, Violet, rebuilding her world with her uncle Regis after the loss of her parents, set against the quiet rhythms of Versailles, and The Great Detective Sherlock Holmes — The Greatest Jail-Breaker, a Hong Kong animation spearheaded by directors Toe Yuen and Matthew Chow that reimagines the classic detective tale with kinetic energy, humour and local flair. Also featured is My Grandfather is a Nihonjin, directed by Brazilian film director Celia Catunda, a cross-cultural story of a Japanese-American boy uncovering long-buried family histories that reflect on memory, migration and belonging.
Then, on every Saturday and Sunday from 18 July to 9 August, a series of creative workshops and guided tours will be offered for families with children. Paid pre-registration required.
