Hong Kong Arts Festival Returns with 54th Edition

Why We Recommend it

Taking place in February and March, the 54th Hong Kong Arts Festival returns with a stellar line-up of world-class artists and performances, alongside around 300 PLUS outreach events to enrich the cultural experience.

Description

The 54th Hong Kong Arts Festival lights up Hong Kong’s cultural scene with outstanding local and international artists across the performing arts. This year, the festival features more than 1,100 artists in over 170 performances spanning more than 45 programmes, from opera and theatre to music and dance, alongside around 300 PLUS outreach events.

Kicking off the annual festival is Ballet Nacional de España — La Bella Otero, a spectacular large-scale production showcasing the diversity of Spanish dance. The festival also brings together an exceptional line-up of internationally acclaimed talents, including music legend Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Cantonese opera veteran Yuen Siu-fai, master choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, celebrated tenor Benjamin Bernheim and ballet superstar Roberto Bolle.

Adding further depth to this year’s festival is an expanded range of PLUS programmes, designed to encourage reflection and interaction beyond the performances themselves. Highlights include a series of guided cultural tours, from visits to a fishing community to explorations of the Sheung Wan district, offering a taste of retro-literary Hong Kong from the 1960s.

The performances will be held at different locations — such as Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong City Hall and Broadway Cinematheque.
