A Love Triangle, Revisited: Reincarnation of the Red Plum

Why We Recommend it

Based on a classic Cantonese Opera, Reincarnation of the Prunus Mume (the red plum tree) tells the story of a love triangle set in the Song dynasty.

Description

Li Huiniang, a concubine of the infamous prime minister Jia Sidao, secretly falls in love with scholar Pei Shunqing.

When Jia finds out about their affair, Huiniang is killed in order to save her lover. Lu Zhaorong, a woman who looks exactly like Huiniang, also falls in love with Shunqing, but his heart still belongs to Huiniang.

Will she insist on love as possession, or generously offer her corpse to be reincarnated and occupied by another soul?

Based on The Reincarnation of the Red Plum by Tong Tik Sang, one of Cantonese opera’s most prolific playwrights, this new drama explores a time and space where humans and spirits intersect, taking the audience on a journey in search of true love.
