Asia Art Archive at 25: Part I Exhibition

Why We Recommend it

Asia Art Archive’s 25th anniversary exhibition, Part I of At 25: Artists’ Early Worlds, traces how four leading Asian artists shaped their creative identities.

Description

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Asia Art Archive (AAA) unveils At 25: Artists’ Early Worlds, a two-part exhibition exploring the origins of artistic identity through archival discovery. Part I brings together four leading artists — Ho Tzu Nyen, Tehching Hsieh, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook and Zhang Xiaogang.

Featuring rare archival materials and artworks like Zhang’s “Self-Portrait,” the exhibition traces how environments of learning, media and social access have evolved across generations, illuminating both personal and collective histories of Asian contemporary art. Drawing from artist records alongside documentary photography, film, television, radio, government, academic and personal collections, At 25 invites viewers to imagine their own 25th year — weaving individual timelines into a larger cultural continuum.

At 25: Artists’ Early Worlds, Part I is on view at AAA’s library from now until 27 June, followed by Part II which will be held between July and October.
