Alejandro Piñeiro Bello’s Dreamy Nightscapes at Pace Gallery

Why We Recommend it

At Pace Gallery, Alejandro Piñeiro Bello’s Solo Quiero Soñar (I Just Want to Dream) presents 10 never-before-exhibited nightscapes created in 2025, exploring the unreality of nighttime.

Description

Titled Solo Quiero Soñar (I Just Want to Dream), Cuban artist Alejandro Piñeiro Bello’s inaugural solo exhibition in Hong Kong features 10 new paintings that delve into the unreality and mysterious allure of nighttime.

All of the paintings were created this year and have never been exhibited before. The pieces reflect the artist’s visions on nightscapes inspired by poems and songs, as well as traditional Chinese painting elements that are shown in gestural, calligraphic marks.

Highlights include “La Estrella Que Nos Guíaba También Desapareció, Señora, Señora (The Star That Guided Us Also Disappeared, Lady, Lady),” where a flickering star illuminates a ritualistic moment around a fire, inspired by an ancient Afro-Cuban song about elusive love; and “Vientos Contrarios (Contrary Winds),” features overlapping and intersecting spirals that move energetically in opposite directions, embodying the dynamism of the night.
