Why We Recommend it
Join author Alexandra Unrein as she launches Colourful Hong Kong — Street Art Stories, a new book about Hong Kong’s dynamic street art.
Description
In Alexandra Unrein’s book, Colourful Hong Kong – Street Art Stories, the city’s dynamic street art culture is revealed through her vivid photography and exclusive interviews. The book features renowned local and international artists such as Sinic Choy, known for fusing Western with Chinese calligraphy; Bao Ho, acclaimed as Hong Kong’s street art queen and Alexandre Farto, known as Vhils, the world-renowned artist famous for his unique technique of carving portraits by removing layers of paint and plaster from walls.
Unrein’s latest challenge is self-publishing this work, managing every aspect from photo curation and editing to design. Her designer and adviser lives in Berlin, while printing and distribution take place in Hong Kong. An established street art photographer, tour guide and author, Unrein has immersed herself in Hong Kong’s lively art scene for over 15 years, initiating tours for the city’s street art festival HKWalls in 2018 and curating numerous street art tours through her boutique company, Wanderlust Walks Hong Kong, capturing the essence and evolution of the city’s urban creativity.
On 25 October, the author will participate in a sharing session that will run from 15:00 to 16:00. Then, the book launch will be held from 17:00 to 19:00. It is free and open to the public, with registration required.
