André Brasilier in Hong Kong

Why We Recommend it
Organised in honour of André Brasilier’s 90th birthday, this exhibition features a selection works that focus on natural beauty and Fauvist landscapes, and were inspired by his love for the equestrian world and Chantal Brasilier, his wife and muse.
Description
Brasilier (b. 1929, Saumur, France) is known for his oil and watercolour canvases that depict natural beauty untouched by daily trivialities and events, which were inspired by language, sounds and colours. Reoccurring themes in his works are horses, nature, music and women, set against simplistic and romantic backgrounds. With influences of Abstraction, Expressionism and Japanese ‘Edo’ print work, Brasilier’s distinctive style does not attempt to imitate form, but instead expresses emotion, human intimacy and experience through modest hues and idiosyncratic techniques.
