Aristo Sham Piano Recital

Description

In June 2025, Hong Kong pianist Aristo Sham captured both the Gold Medal and Audience Award at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

This March, Hong Kong pianist Aristo Sham will bring together technical brilliance and intellectual poise in a recital at the 54th Hong Kong Arts Festival. The evening opens with Busoni’s reimagining of Bach’s Chaconne, followed by his transcriptions of Brahms’ Six Chorale Preludes and Variations on a Prelude in C minor by Chopin — each transformed into vivid showcases of musical thought. The second half turns to Brahms’ late Capriccios and Intermezzi, culminating in the youthful Piano Sonata No. 1, a work of Romantic grandeur and lyrical intimacy.

There will be two performances — one on 20 March and the other on 21 March, both starting at 20:00. Each concert will last approximately two hours and include one interval.
