Art of the Pearl River Delta: The Canton Express Returns

Why We Recommend it
Grappling with issues pertaining to life and culture in the Pearl River Delta, this is a re-staging of an old -but still very much relevant – exhibit.
Description
Restaging a successful exhibit that was part of the 2003 Venice Biennale, this year’s Canton Express addresses the topic of China’s rapid globalization and urbanisation as per its earlier iteration.
In Canton Express 2003, the works of artists from across the Pearl River Delta expressed skepticism towards a commercially-driven society through multimedia practices and site-specific installations.
These works explore the physical, mental and emotional complexities of life in the “factory of the world’ – and might evoke complex emotions in Hong Kong viewers today.
