Documentary: Your Serve or Mine?

Description

Asia Society Hong Kong Center’s Your Serve or Mine revisits the historic 1971 journey of American table tennis players to China — the first in over 20 years — revealing how a sport opened lines of communication reshaped bilateral relations. Blending history and adventure, this documentary follows American and Chinese students who continue these people-to-people ties, showing how shared humanity endures across generations and borders.

After the film screening, meet the filmmakers behind the story: Emmy Award-winning producer and director Bill Einreinhofer, chair emeritus of the broadcast journalism department at the New York Film Academy and Helen Wang, a producer and creative director whose work bridges global cultures and perspectives. Together, the pair will discuss the making of the film and its message of diplomacy through understanding.

The event starts with opening remarks at 18:30 on 5 May, followed by the film screening at 18:35 and a post-screening talk at 19:25.
