Sculpting the Void: Lee Kuang-yu and His Art of Emptiness

Why We Recommend it
Experience the profound fusion of philosophy and modern art as Lee Kuang-Yu’s sculptures transform spaces with his signature “open void,” blending nature, architecture, and the human experience.
Description
Lee Kuang-Yu’s Sculpting the Void is the artist’s first large-scale solo exhibition in Hong Kong that harmoniously integrates nine of his iconic sculptures with lush greenery and historical architecture of the Asia Society Hong Kong Art Centre. Drawing on the Centre’s unique atmosphere, the artworks are reinvigorated and offer visitors a layered and immersive aesthetic experience.
Inspired by elements from the East and West including philosophy found in Buddhism and Taoism, aesthetics of landscapes, as well as Cubism and Surrealism, Lee’s unique “open void” sculptural language intertwines traditional thoughts with modernism, inviting viewers to contemplate the state of unifying the object and the self.
