The Saturday Night Jazz Orchestra, a 20-strong big band from Hong Kong, will perform swing and jazz standards from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and more at The Fringe Club’s recurring Big Band Night.
Description
Founded in 1990 by Taka Hirohama, the Saturday Night Jazz Orchestra comprises of 20 musicians of various nationalities. The orchestra is renowned for their original arrangements of great mainstream big band jazz, such as ‘Blue Skies’, ‘Fly Me To The Moon’, ‘Just Friends’, and ‘Sing Sing Sing’.
This show is presented by the Fringe Club as a part of their “Jazz-Go-Central, Jazz-Go-Fringe” project, which was founded to create a more fertile and vibrant Jazz and music ecology in Hong Kong. The Big Band Night is a recurring event in which various local jazz big bands are invited to perform at Fringe Dairy.
