Beauty in Darkness: Boogie Woogie Photography Exhibition

Why We Recommend it
Inspired by Charles Baudelaire’s literary masterpiece The Flowers of Evil, dive into the world of beauty and darkness at Boogie Woogie Photography’s latest exhibition.
Description
First published in 1857, Charles Baudelaire’s The Flowers of Evil puts a magnifying glass on duality of existence, delving into themes such as beauty and decay. This group exhibition borrows the name of Baudelaire’s book to guide visitors through a range of emotions that challenge perceptions of beauty through the eyes of four artists.
Takeshi Shikama’s photographs create a dreamlike garden, blurring the lines between reality and imagination. Photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, known for his provocative style, intertwines floral motifs with the human form, revealing beauty born from vulnerability. Painter and photographer Pierre Molinier challenges norms of identity and sexuality, using floral symbolism to explore desire and transgression, celebrating the beauty found in the margins. Finally, Makiko Morange’s ikebana (Japanese art of flower arrangement) artworks offer a serene contrast, inviting reflection on life’s temporary beauty. Together, these artists encourage viewers to embrace the complexities of humanity, acknowledge the connection between light and dark, and celebrate art’s transformative power.
