Hong Kong to Paris: Two Photographers’ Visual Journeys

Why We Recommend it

The works of two prominent French photographers, Raymond Cauchetier and Rémi de Laquintane, comes together to capture fleeting moments in 1950s Hong Kong and present-day Paris.

Description

Hong Kong to Paris presents the evocative works of notable photographers Raymond Cauchetier and Rémi de Laquintane. Taken in the 1950s, Cauchetier’s rare images reveal a Hong Kong caught between the contrasts of the then British-ruled city and bustling Chinese towns, captured through his iconic Rolleiflex lens.

Seventy years later, in 2024, his French counterpart Laquintane embarked on a 17,000-kilometre train expedition from Hong Kong to Paris over 15 days, transforming passing landscapes into meditative dreamscapes. Together, the duo’s works and unique perspectives in this exhibition explore themes of adventure and storytelling that transcends borders, emotions and time.
