Breathing of Light: Glass Artist Lee Kyouhong Finds Harmony in Chaos

Why We Recommend it
In his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, Korean glass artist Lee Kyouhong presents seven new mixed-media works that explore the material and metaphorical qualities of glass.
Description
Lee Kyouhong’s (b.1972) Breathing of Light series examine the concept of movements in stillness, and visually describe his search for balance in life.
The works are made with a base layer of flat-painted mirror and laminated glass in primary colours, featuring three-dimensional wedges of glass arranged irregularly on the surface. This compositional form confers Lee’s perception of harmonic beauty in a chaotic situation. The thematic juxtaposition of harmony in chaos is furthered by the contrast in textures of the glass elements. In this regard, despite the rough configuration of the wedges, they lie upon the flat surface like droplets of water making no physical indentation or impression on its serenity.
