Caroline Bouquet: Paintings and Engravings Inspired by Poet Victor Segalen

Why We Recommend it

French artist Caroline Bouquet unveils paintings and engravings inspired by Victor Segalen in a new exhibition at NockArt Gallery.

Description

Supported by Le French May, NockArt Gallery presents Steles, an exhibition of paintings and engravings by Hong Kong-based French artist Caroline Bouquet.

In her work, Bouquet pays homage to the French writer Victor Segalen (1878-1919) and his poetry collection Steles. Segalen lived in and travelled extensively through Polynesia and China. Famous for his travel writing, which illustrated his vision, belief and aspirations, Segalen also wrote novels, poetry, essays, plays, and more. Segalen’s legacy is also evident in Hong Kong: the French International School was named after him.

Bouquet studied Fine Arts in Versailles and History in La Sorbonne, Paris.
