Cavalluna: Acclaimed Equestrian Show Makes Asian Debut in HK

Cavalluna – Gate to the Otherworld arrives in Hong Kong this September, marking the celebrated European equestrian production’s first appearance in Asia. Staged at Kai Tak Arena, the show spotlights 54 horses across eight breeds from countries including the Netherlands and Portugal, in a visually striking performance that blends classical horsemanship with theatrical storytelling.

Masterminded by Emmy-nominated director Klaus Hillebrecht, the production has toured more than 30 European cities and attracted over nine million audiences. Its Hong Kong run forms part of The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Year of the Horse programme, highlighting the enduring relationship between humans and horses through sport, culture and spectacle. With Cathay Cargo supporting the international transport of the horses, the event underscores both technical precision and artistic ambition. Combining choreography, music and narrative, Cavalluna offers a rare opportunity to experience large-scale equestrian theatre in the city.
