A Guided Gallery Tour on Central African Art

Why We Recommend it

The RGS guided tour of Central African Art: Invocation of an Unseen World dives into lesser-known African cultural heritage from the 19th to early 20th centuries.

Description

Before Central African Art: Invocation of an Unseen World concludes on 28 September, the Royal Geographical Society Hong Kong (RGS-HK) is offering a guided tour of the exhibition to walk through the rich tapestry of African cultural heritage.

Presenting approximately 200 Central African artworks, primarily dated from the 19th to early 20th centuries, the exhibition at City University of Hong Kong features artefacts organised into three main categories: sculptures, masks and weapons. Together, these works showcase the collective memories of Central Africa and reveal the rich artistic legacy of its diverse cultures.

RGS-HK’s guided tour will be held on 20 September, from 11:00 to 12:30.
