Description
Accompanying an award-winning book depicting Chai Wan firefighters is an exhibit showcasing a host of scenes from life at the fire station, from assemblies and washing up fire engines to pupil’s visits and volleyball games.
Both a commercial and a fine-art photographer, Chan’s works often explore socio-political issues with Hong Kong, including is 2014 series ” No Compromises” in which he documented student activism.
In this exhibit, Chan Dick brings the viewer into an elegant, sublimated world, and, according to curator Yang Yeung, “in Chai Wan Fire Station he imposes limits on his upon his trained consciousness to get in touch with a different kind of freedom.”
