Weave and Shout: Release Stress Through Touch and Play at CHAT

Why We Recommend it
Fresh from curating the Japan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, CHAT chief curator Takahashi Mizuki presents a playful summer show.
Description
Feeling the heat? CHAT’s summer exhibition invites visitors of all ages to explore sources of everyday stress — and then release negative energy through touch, weaving, role-play and laughter. Despite its playful theme, Weave and Shout comes with artistic kudos, as the work of executive director and chief curator Takahashi Mizuki, fresh from her role curating the Japan Pavilion at the recent Venice Biennale.
With an emphasis on interactive exhibits and, as the name implies, noise-making actively encouraged, the exhibition spotlights both international and local perspectives. Hong Kong artist Chan Wai Lap’s whimsical schoolyard-inspired installation is presented next to Indonesian artist Agus Nur Amal PM Toh’s lively storytelling performances and environmentally conscious interactive structures by Australia’s Slow Art Collective.
Running parallel to the exhibition is CHAT’s (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) annual flagship community programme. Seed to Textile 2026: Open Studio showcases collaborative works by Hong Kong fashion designer Yeung Chin, Indian dance artist Neesha Jhaveri, and multimedia choreographer Alan Wong Sui Lun. Visitors have the chance to experiment with natural dyes and traditional Indian block printing, create their own paper stamps, don sculpted costumes and explore dance movements inspired by Indian culture.
