Description
As the inaugural exhibition at the newly relocated a.m. space in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong artist Cheng Hung’s solo exhibition The Sunset Lasts Forever is a thought-provoking reflection on the concept of eternity.
The 12 charcoal paintings on display are a collective exploration on the intricate relationships between light, shadow and space. The ambiguity and dreamy quality of Cheng’s monochromatic paintings further reinforce the feelings of bittersweetness when one catches a glimpse of the fleeting sunset – the very inspiration for Cheng’s works in this exhibition.
Cheng Hung is a Hong Kong artist known for her use of charcoal. Beneath the black and white aesthetics of her works are a sense of warmth that depicts a calm and highly personal realm.
