This event which was originally scheduled to take place 5–21 March, 2020, has been postponed to 24 September – 4 October, 2020 in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
This year’s China Women’s Film Festival includes film screenings, meeting with directors, networking events for filmmakers, workshops and post-screening discussions.
With a line-up of feature-length films and documentaries, the festival will showcase bold stories from established and emerging female filmmakers. Selections for this year will take audiences around the globe with original works from international filmmakers.
The 2020 line-up includes thought-provoking, inspiring, and diverse stories of women finding themselves and their voices. Some of the works will be making their Asian premiere; others will make their Hong Kong premier at our festival. All movies will be shown with Chinese or Cantonese subtitles.
Films featured this year represent more than a dozen countries from Uruguay to Australia, South Korea to France. They engage with topics such as women’s rights, demonstrating the power of women’s voices with remarkable visual language.
In addition to screening films, the festival will host several workshops for young filmmakers at various Hong Kong universities. Prominent film directors will share their knowledge with young Hong Kong filmmakers. All workshops are free of charge and open to the public.
