Chloë Cheuk’s Evolving Practice in down to earth (exhale)

Why We Recommend it

1a space’s down to earth (exhale) traces Montreal-based Hong Kong artist Chloë Cheuk’s evolving practice through sculpture, video and ideas of completeness.

Description

1a space’s down to earth (exhale) is the second edition of its Mid-Career Artist Exhibition and Publication Series, spotlighting Montreal-based Hong Kong artist Chloë Cheuk. Bringing together curator Yang Yeung and researcher Christina Chung, the project examines Cheuk’s evolving practice through multiple perspectives.

The solo exhibition revisits her sculptural and video works, situating them within a Hong Kong she has come to re-encounter after relocating to Canada a decade ago. Driven by curiosity and experimentation across mediums, Cheuk’s practice reflects an ongoing pursuit of completeness—an idea that shapes both her artistic process and personal trajectory.

A series of curator-led walkthroughs will take place throughout the exhibition, with sessions featuring the artist on 27 and 28 March, followed by curator-only tours on 2, 9 and 16 April. Then, on 29 March from 13:15 to 14:00, Cheuk will launch her first monograph, In Search of Completeness, at Art Basel Hong Kong.

All programmes are free, on a first-come, first-served basis and require pre-registration.
