Circus Plays: A Display of Beauty and Impossibility

Why We Recommend it
A number of first-rate circus troupes are coming to Hong Kong for jaw-dropping, unforgettable performances at Tai Kwun.
Description
As one of the most distinctive performing arts programmes presented by Tai Kwun, Circus Plays is a stunning demonstration of contemporary circus as opposed to traditional circus, presenting a breakthrough by combining conventional elements such as acrobatics with artistic performances and storytelling. The programme includes indoor and outdoor performances, some of which include audience interaction.
Circus Plays features two spectacular shows: SIGMA by the world-class juggling act Gandini Juggling from the United Kingdom as well as A Simple Space by Australia’s original circus ensembles Gravity & Other Myths.
SIGMA, the Asian Arts Award winner, explores the creative interface between juggling, geometry and classical Indian dance. With its exquisite choreography, seductive percussive score and multimedia projections, the show transcends cultural barriers and stimulates imaginations.
A Simple Space displays unbelievable feats at a non-stop pace, celebrating extreme human strength. This internationally-acclaimed acrobatic show has been performed over 500 times in 24 countries and won accolades including the People’s Choice Award 2016, Best Circus Adelaide Fringe Award 2013, Australian Dance Award 2015 and Greenroom Award for Outstanding Circus 2015.
Apart from these grand shows, there will also be magic, circus and lighthearted clown performances by a trio of street circus masters.
