Why We Recommend it
A range of curious and elegant classical and contemporary works from Southeast Asia will be on display before they go on auction.
Offering a carefully selected collection of works that span the 1st-2nd Century AD to 2017, this showcase provides a new perspective for understanding continuities and diversity in Southeast Asian art.
The artworks on display are intriguing and enlightening. Among them is the 1st-2nd century Vietnamese Dong Son Drum, one of the most recognizable artefacts of pre-modern Southeast Asian art.
Other more recent works featured include that of Indonesian artist Fadjar Sidik (1930 – 2004), whose abstract art pays homage to pre-modern Southeast Asian aesthetics while remaining forward-looking.
