Dawn Upshaw: Grammy Award-winning Soprano in Hong Kong

Why We Recommend it

Five-time Grammy Award-winning soprano Dawn Upshaw performs in December with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong.

Having garnered five Grammy Awards, 50 recordings and 300 appearances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, American soprano Dawn Upshaw is celebrated worldwide for her ability to bring out the soul of both melodies and lyrics.

For her Hong Kong debut with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, she performs signature pieces by Berio and Canteloube which are folk-inspired and by turns witty and sanguine. Beautiful rural scenes are also depicted in two orchestral suites by Czech nationalist composer Dvořák and John Ireland, one of the greatest purveyors of English impressionism.
