Family Fun for Day of the Seafarers

Why We Recommend it
Celebrate the 16th edition of the annual Day of the Seafarer at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum with family activities, games, tours and maritime fun.
Description
Join the Pacific Basin Family Fun Day at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum on 29 June, from 10:00 to 17:00, for a lively celebration of the Day of the Seafarer — an occasion dedicated to raising awareness and honouring the invaluable contributions of global seafarers.
Families can enjoy a variety of activities that offer a unique chance to explore Hong Kong’s maritime industry and history. Notable events include the “Seafarer’s Human Library: The pulse of young seafarers,” where young seafarers from Pacific Basin share stories about their work and life at sea, and “Ocean Embrace – A Wellness Journey through Music and Imagery,” featuring students from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts guiding attendees through a reflective experience inspired by the ocean’s beauty.
Established by the International Maritime Organisation in 2010, the Day of the Seafarer recognises the vital contributions of global seafarers and promotes their welfare. This year’s theme, My Harassment-Free Ship, emphasises respect and zero tolerance for bullying and harassment at sea. Sponsored by the Hong Kong-based Pacific Basin Shipping and supported by key maritime organisations like the Hong Kong Seamen’s Union and Hong Kong Sea School, the Family Fun Day celebrates seafarers’ spirit of cooperation and respect while promoting awareness of the shipping industry’s role and sustainability.
