Piano Virtuoso Denis Matsuev Plays Tchaikovsky’s ‘Seasons’

Why We Recommend it

Denis Matsuev, one of Russia’s most prominent pianists, will perform Tchaikovksy’s Grand Sonata and beloved bittersweet musical meditation Seasons, in an intimate piano recital.

Following a critically-acclaimed performance at last year’s Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Russian piano titan returns with an all-Tchaikovsky recital.

The 1998 International Tchaikovsky Competition winner is renowned for his towering technique, emotional depth and unparalleled tone colour.

Matsuev will play Tchaikovsky’s Seasons, a bittersweet ‘meditation’ which plots the course of a year in twelve short character pieces. The symphonic Grand Sonata for piano will further illustrate the artistic range of this great pianist.

This event is organised as a part of the 47th Hong Kong Arts Festival.
