Design Trust 2026 Reflects on HK’s Built Environment

Why We Recommend it

Design Trust’s 2026 exhibition connects Hong Kong’s art, architecture and design from Central to the Peak, with work from major figures like Henry Steiner, Michael Wolf and more.

Description

Design Trust’s 2026 exhibition celebrates Hong Kong’s creative landscape, exploring how design, architecture and urban life continue to shape the city’s evolving identity. Curated by Design Trust co-founder Marisa Yiu, the programme unfolds through an exhibition, a walking tour and curatorial programmes.

As Art Basel Hong Kong 2026’s Cultural Partner during Hong Kong Art Week, Design Trust will bring together international curators, experts and scholars for a walking urban tour celebrating Hong Kong’s architectural and natural landscape from Central district to the Peak. A non-profit supporting design research, culture and community impact in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, Design Trust directs fundraising proceeds to its grants and mentorship programmes for emerging creative talent.

On 20 March, there will be an exclusive charity benefit party and live auction at the Peak Tower. Then, from 27 March to 12 April, The Art of Movement exhibition traces Hong Kong’s architectural, art and natural landscapes from the 1980s to present day. Experience the city’s shifting skyline and contours as a continuous journey through history and imagination.

The exhibition revisits the urban visions of prominent photographers Walter Koditek, Michael Wolf and Ian Lambot — whose iconic works chronicle the city’s evolution — and presents new interpretations through Emily Allchurch’s reimagined tower, Austin Bell’s breathtaking Peak views, new commissions by award-winning photographers Kevin Mak (a longtime Zolima contributor) and Gary Ng, as well as Carmen Ng’s intricate illustrations of movement and transformation.
