deTour 2025: The Shape of Yearning Ignites Creativity at PMQ

Why We Recommend it

The 2025 edition of deTour 2025 showcases innovative works on the theme of “The Shape of Yearning,” with a dynamic lineup of workshops, dialogues, performances and guided tours that bring design to life.

Description

deTour 2025, Hong Kong’s annual design festival, will be held at PMQ from 28 November to 7 December and is centred on the theme “The Shape of Yearning.” Curated by designer and design curator Adonian Chan, the festival explores the deep human impulse to imagine a better future, using design as a medium to express thought, desire and hope. This year’s theme reveals creativity as both a source of inspiration and restlessness — positioning design beyond mere function to a vehicle for emotional and intellectual engagement.

The festival features 17 installations and exhibitions by local and international designers from Hong Kong and countries like Japan, Switzerland and the United States, including immersive works like Encor Studio’s kinetic and sensory installation “ALCOVE IN SITU.” Complementing these creations, enjoy diverse activities such as workshops, dialogues, performances and guided tours, spanning community spaces in PMQ’s Courtyard and Marketplace, and The Qube. With over 40 workshop sessions, 12 Creative Voice dialogues and family-friendly programmes like deTour Kids, the festival offers something for everyone to connect, learn and be inspired.
