Detour Creative Festival 2017: Installations, Art Shows and Forward-Thinking Design

Why We Recommend it

Providing a platform for local young designers and artists to put their creative ideas into practice, DeTour Creative Festival hosts installations, exhibitions and workshops along the theme of ‘harmony in chaos’.

Description

DeTour 2017’s programme of installations, exhibitions, workshops, and dialogues will explore the overlooked beauty that lies in the imperfect process of creation, the harmony of chaos.

Bringing together many forward-thinking minds in the field of design to look at the world from different points of view, the festival will feature inventive exhibitions and interactive installations from industry heavy-hitters and emerging artists. Among the exhibitors is Instagrammer surrealhk, whose popular photographic project called “My Surreal Life in Hong Kong” recreates surreal and funny situations about Hong Kong using Photoshop.

Featured will be a massive 14-meter-high interactive LED wall from Hong Kong-based design collective “Bloom”, a jungle of giant paper seeds sculpted by artist Pauline Yau, a fantasy racetrack designed by floral artist Jennifer Chung, and the Ecomax-sponsored kongcrete exhibition – a series of “graphic concrete” designs.

DeTour will also play host to a series of creative and fun workshops, some of which are free of charge, design dialogues and satellite events.
