Description
Soluna Fine Art presents Diamond Mountain – Electronic Nostalgia, a solo exhibition by the renowned Korean artist Kim Young-hun.
Featuring eight vibrant, post-abstract oil paintings inspired by everything from the Korean landscape to digital screen glitches and stripe-covered light bulbs, the exhibition explores the ambiguous boundaries between reality and our digital lives.
Kim’s works are also noteworthy in terms of technique. His paintings make use of a traditional Korean painting technique called hyukpil, which involves mixing numerous colours and paints with quick strokes using a leather brush. The multi-coloured stripes that seem to flow like ink are painted with one continuous brush stroke across the canvas; the colours melting together and permeating into the canvas.
