Discover Wan Chai Through Design District Hong Kong’s Free Walking Tours

Why We Recommend it

Join Design District Hong Kong (#ddHK) to explore Wan Chai’s local stories, architecture, intangible design and craftsmanship, and more, through free guided walking tours.

Description

#ddHK is a 3-year (2018/19 – 2020/21) Creative Tourism Project presented by Tourism Commission and  organised by Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) to lead both locals and tourists on an in-depth tour of creativity to discover a different side to Hong Kong.

In order to do so, #ddHK joins forces with iDiscover to organise four different walking tours held in English, Mandarin and Cantonese from April to June 2019 in Wan Chai.

The #ddSnap photography tour, led by well-known instagrammer Jeremy Cheung highlights the district’s photogenic hidden gems; #ddWalker is a tour of the neighbourhood’s architectural treasures, including Hong Kong’s oldest surviving post office and the Blue House cluster; In the #ddStory tour participants get to hear first-hand stories from from Oi Kwan Barber‘s 2ndgeneration owner as well as try local delicacies; and #ddCommissionedWork, an Augmented Reality (AR) public art tour by New media artist Masaki Fujihata, who took reference to Hong Kong old photographs and oral history of local residents to “re-present” these stories by actors in the studio.
