Immersive Worlds Crafted by Women Artists

Why We Recommend it

Full-scale reconstructions of environments by women artists from the 1950s onwards reveal a lesser-known history of immersive art, with contemporary Asian voices joining the conversation.

Description

Dream Rooms brings together major installations by women artists from across continents and generations, offering spaces to move through, inhabit and experience art with all the senses.

Often overlooked in art history, many of these environments were originally dismantled after display, making their recreation all the more vital. At M+, historic works appear alongside new commissions by Asian women artists, connecting past and present in a dialogue that highlights the impact and innovation women have brought to immersive and experiential art. Rather than objects on display, these environments invite visitors to enter, interact and engage, underscoring that participation is central to the meaning of the work and to the legacy of women artists.
