Echoes in Between: Four Perspectives of Korean Abstract Art

Why We Recommend it

Echoes in Between presents a focused inquiry into contemporary Korean abstract art — exploring colour, layering and space from four perspectives.

Description

Presented by the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong and Soluna Fine Art, Echoes in Between presents a focused inquiry into contemporary Korean abstract art, featuring works by four leading artists. Through exploring colour, layering and space, each artist brings their distinct visual language into play.

Ha Tae-Im’s Un Passage series uses bands of chromatic colours to capture the rhythm of human emotions and connections. Seungtaik Jang uses a custom wide brush in his Layered Painting series to curate a visual experience rich in colours and in depth. Kim Young-Hun uses the classical Korean technique of hyuk-pil in his Electronic Nostalgia series, painting rapid strokes with a leather brush to portray the dissonance of analogue and digital life. Park Yoon-Kyung paints on silk and chiffon, working with the dimensionality allowed by the translucent materials.
