European Union Film Festival 2026

Why We Recommend it

EUFF 2026 brings 15 award-winning European films to Hong Kong, exploring universal themes from mental health to history.

Description

From 21 April to 3 May, the 17th European Union Film Festival returns to Hong Kong with 15 award-winning films. Together, they reflect on themes of mental health, social trauma and human connection — each offering a distinct European perspective.

Opening with Sweden’s offbeat comedy The Dance Club, the programme moves through stories of resilience and identity, from Switzerland’s tense hospital drama Late Shift and Austria’s bold How to Be Normal and the Oddness of the Other World, to Finland’s sweeping period epic Stormskerry Maja. Elsewhere, films inspired by real events include the Czech Republic’s Broken Voices, Poland’s Chopin, Chopin! and Spain’s The Dinner, which revisits historical divides with dark humour.

Screenings will take place at Movie Movie Cityplaza, Palace ifc and Premiere Elements.
