Mozart’s famous opera is given an Avant-Garde twist with the help of hula hoop dancer Grace Hui.

Description

This production applies the German design aesthetic of Bauhaus to Mozart’s Magic Flute, an opera which tells the story of Tamino, a prince who must undergo a series of tests, accompanied by his sidekick Papageno, in order to marry princess Pamina.

The performance involves the hula hoop dancing of Grace Hui, who will be accompanied by a child-friendly adaptation of the score, produced by Cedric Chan, Edgar Hung, Eman Lam, Yat Po Singers.

This production is part of experimental theatre group Zuni‘s Theatre is Technology programme, which hosts a number of genre-crossing shows.

BAUHAIS magic Flute will be showing at the Tai Po Civic Centre’s Black Box Theatre from 28-29 July, and the auditorium of the Yuen Long Theatre 10-12 August as a part of the International Arts Carnival 2018.
