Sichuan Huge Puppet Troupe presents the award-winning The Fabulous Giant Puppet Show, starring the 300-year-old Sichuan tradition of giant rod puppets, amazing stunts, live music and dance.
Originating from folk art, the giant rod puppets of Sichuan province have been around for more than 300 years. The puppets were inscribed onto the first batch of China’s National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2006.
Having won the Gold Award at the Chuncheon Arts Festival in South Korea and the Best Performance Award at the International Cervantino Festival in Mexico, the programme brings together the best in mythology, history and folklore, told with amazing stunts such as fast change of face, tea drinking, flicking of long sleeves by life-size puppets.
A second performance will be held on 29 December 2019 at Yuen Long Theatre.
