Sipping Through Time at Shape of Tea Exhibition

Why We Recommend it

The Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware’s Shape of Tea displays 35 tea sets, the earliest dating from the Song Dynasty, alongside 20 contemporary works by Hong Kong wood artist Yung Wing-yan and bamboo artist Lam Ka-yu.

Description

Themed “Shape of Tea,” the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware’s exhibition is divided into four galleries: Aesthetic Ambience, Accumulation of Time, Frozen in Space and Art of Tea Tasting to explore tea culture and its intriguing connections to the city.

The exhibition features 35 sets of tea ware from the museum’s collection, spanning the Song dynasty (10th to 13th centuries) to the 20th century — tea bowls, tea caddies and teapots — alongside 20 new works by Hong Kong wood artist Yung Wing-yan and bamboo artist Lam Ka-yu.

The museum’s ground-floor Activity room has been transformed into a tea room where visitors can relax and reflect. A range of tea-related activities, including tea demonstrations, a special “tea contest” and teaware-making workshops, will also be held.
