Flock: A Gentle Reflection on the Everyday

Why We Recommend it

Local artists Joey Leung and Kinyan Lam bring a wide range of works engaging with the vitality and precarity of everyday life.

Description

Sin Sin Fine Art brings local artists Joey Leung and Kinyan Lam together in Flock, a multimedia exhibition reflecting the vitality and precarity of life. Leung brings his usual whimsy, most strikingly in “One Arrow, Many Chickens,” a ceramic work of 12 plastic squeaky chickens pierced by an arrow, spanning 1.8 metres. He reflects on the significance of everyday culture through another lens in “Blessing Fish,” a series of considerably smaller ceramics exquisitely carved with traditional auspicious symbols.

Lam approaches the everyday with the motif of temporality. In “10,000-Stitch Wreath,” he leaves a gentle yet remarkable trace with the 27 small flowers stitched. Working with his specialty in garments, he tells a quiet yet dignified story of brief encounters in “Losing A Little Each Day.” Lam is also debuting his new acrylic paintings in the exhibition, thinking about the passage of time using plants as subject.

Flock will run until 6 March, by appointment only. To schedule a visit, please contact Sin Sin Fine Art via email or phone 2521 0308.
