Fountain de Chopin Brings Jazz to Tai Kwun Steps

In this season of Chilled Steps, the jazz collective Fountain de Chopin takes over Tai Kwun’s Laundry Steps for three consecutive weekends starting on 6 February. Each week introduces a different face of the Hong Kong jazz scene through three late afternoons of free improvisation from 17:00 to 18:15. We begin with Jazz Rising Stars, where members of the collective team up with their students and other young musicians to bring youthful renditions of classics. The Songwriters Session in the following week introduces three local singer-songwriters — Kaelyn, Ashley Lin and Jan Curious — to the mix, each of them collaborating with jazz musicians to adapt pop and original songs. The series closes with Rhythm Exchange, pairing jazz improvisation with swing dance, tap dance and street dance.

Chilled Steps has been running since 2021, with each season curated by Hong Kong musicians to showcase the diversity and depth of the local music scene. Free admission, no registration required.
