Freespace Happening: Familiar Favourites and Fresh Faces at West Kowloon’s Indie Fest

Why We Recommend it
Packed with live music, poetry jams, dance showcases and workshops this recurring, free outdoor festival is an intriguing and inclusive event.
Description
Freespace Happening was launched in 2012 by the West Kowloon Cultural District with the mission of creating a unique space for creativity and performance that’s free for all.
This month’s edition will see live performances from a mix of musicians and genres, kicking off with singer-songwriter Narbi presenting original folk and blues. Jazz vocalist Vincy Chan returns with Vincy Chan & The Prototyke Lab, and Stranded Whale, led by singer-songwriter Jabin Law and guitarist Tomii Chan, join Taiwanese instrumental group Cicada for a collaborative new crossover of strings and urban folk. As evening draws in, tfvsjs take to the stage to end the day with some instrumental math rock rhythms.
Literature lovers can visit The House of Hong Kong Literature’s fortune-telling booth for a glimpse of what lies ahead in the Year of the Dog. There will be also be interactive dance performances choreographed with children in mind, alongside a creative, transitory studio.
