French May 2025: A Cultural Dialogue Between France and Hong Kong

Why We Recommend it

French May 2025 celebrates the enduring artistic treasures of French culture and the dynamic exchange between Hong Kong and France, with more than 60 events with 200 artists.

Description

Under the theme “Vive L’art,” French May 2025 offers a rich celebration of Franco-Hong Kong artistic collaboration, which highlights over 60 events and 200 French and Hong Kong artists and performers. Highlights include Picasso for Asia — A Conversation, co-organised by M+ and Musée Picasso Paris. This exhibition showcases more than 60 Picasso masterpieces alongside 130 works by many Asian artists such as Wifredo Lam and Luis Chan.

Elsewhere, performances like the tragic and romantic ballet classic Giselle, choreographed by ballet artist Charla Genn and Hong Kong Ballet’s artistic director Septime Webre, and Souvenirs which stars dynamic duo Claire Théault and Anthony Figueiredo in their show that marries dance and shadow theatre, will enchant audiences. Moving into music, there is equally a big range of performances — from classical orchestras to jazz and pop concerts — featuring collaborations between French and Hong Kong talents.

Alongside these events, French GourMay brings together French food and wine with Hong Kong’s nightlife and bars. Additionally, educational programmes, workshops and masterclasses offer deeper artistic engagement for all ages, fostering a richer cultural experience.
