Description
An important and influential figure in street art globally, John “JonOne” Perello is an American artist who has been living in Paris for more than twenty years.
Born in Harlem in 1963, JonOne burst into the daredevil graffiti art scene adorning walls and subway cars during the heyday of the movement.
Nowadays, he normally opts for paintbrushes over spray cans, though the influence of the street is still very much palpable in his art. Other inspirations include the expressive and rambunctious brushwork of Jackson Pollock, as well as Sam Francis’ use of space and forms alongside the vivacity of Henri Matisse.
