FutureScope: Inside Hong Kong’s First Immersive Art Dome

Why We Recommend it
Curated by FutureTense — the platform envisioned by media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m) — FutureScope is Hong Kong’s first large-scale art dome, bringing an immersive fusion of media art, sound and Eastern philosophy.
Description
Overlooking Victoria Harbour from Kai Tak, FutureScope is Hong Kong’s first large-scale art dome — an architectural and sensory marvel where technology and artistry converge. Curated by FutureTense, the platform founded by media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m), the 12‑metre‑wide hemispheric theatre immerses audiences in moving images, layered sound and transformative light — offering a contemplative ArtTech experience shaped by Eastern philosophy.
Visitors can enjoy free daily projections alongside ticketed live performances, interactive workshops and special screening sessions that blend digital experimentation with traditional expression.
Uniting world-class collaborators, the programme features three immersive multidisciplinary experiences: Perpetual Records featuring new media artist Daito Manabe, Resonance Aura with experimental vocalist Sainkho Namtchylak, and Waving Script with Chinese calligrapher Xu Jing and Cantonese opera performer Leung Fei-tung.
Named Artist of the Year (Media Arts) at the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards (2025), Cheung’s practice spans installation, sound and performance art rooted in both Eastern and Western philosophies. Through his FutureTense platform and artist collectives XCEPT and XCEED, Cheung continues to bridge traditional aesthetics and future technology, reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a dynamic international art hub.
