Two Local Photo Artists Unveil Time and Memory

Why We Recommend it
From Mundane, Multitudes features a powerful dialogue on everyday moments and flux of time through the complementary visions of local artists, Yung Tak-cheung and Danny Chau.
Description
From Mundane, Multitudes is a joint exhibition exploring the poetry of everyday life and the passage of time. Yung Tak-cheung’s intimate studies of overlooked objects transform the mundane into symbols of resilience and shared humanity. In contrast, Danny Chau’s large-scale metal dye sublimation prints blend nature’s permanence with fragile human structures, creating dreamlike images where reality and imagination merge. Together, they invite viewers to reconsider how fleeting moments and memories shape our understanding of the world, making the familiar feel new.
Yung has devoted over three decades to photographic art, exploring light, texture and the human condition through everyday objects. His work reflects a deep appreciation for life’s fragility and resilience, using overlooked items like old coins and maps to symbolise time, evolution and connection. With an optimistic vision, the artist highlights these objects as talismans guiding us toward the future.
Chau is a seasoned visual artist and photographer, active in Hong Kong’s creative scene since the 1990s. His career took flight as he delved into the realm of black and white printing, honing his craft with the BBC Hulton Picture Library (now Hulton Getty). His practice spans fine art and advertising, recognised for innovative large-scale prints and a continual push to experiment with photographic techniques.
