German Baritone Benjamin Appl Brings Schubert’s Lieder to Life

Why We Recommend it

Dubbed the “current front-runner in the new generation of Lieder singers”, Appl’s poignant renditions of the songs of Schubert, Grieg, Britten, and other composers, will be accompanied by pianist James Baillieu.

Description

Bringing the piano-and-voice partnership of the 19th Century to life, Appl and Baillieu will perform moving Lieder of Franz Schubert together in Hong Kong. Among the works of the enduring Austrian Romantic composer will be Heimat, das Heimweh and der Wanderer – works that explore themes of belonging and home.

Alongside Schubert’s works, the pair will also perform pieces by Grieg, Britten, Brahms, Strauss, among others, in this rich and enticing programme.
