Get into the Groove: Hong Kong International Jazz Festival 2017
Why We Recommend it
Local and international musicians take the stage at the Hong Kong International Jazz Festival (HKIJF) 2017 in an event featuring varied shows.
This year’s festival opens with a free open-air concert at The Olympic Square in the Hong Kong Park, featuring Hong Kong jazz guitarist Alan Kwan and pianist Patrick Lui, and special guests Hang Em High, (Poland/Austria/Switzerland), EYOT (Serbia) and the Samba Jazz Collective (Brazil/HKG).
From October 5 – 7, the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre will play host to concerts by international and local jazz musicians, such as Ted –Hong Kong ‘godfather of Jazz’–Lo, Swiss trombonist and composer Samuel Blaser and the fast-rising stars of the Mathias Heise Quadrillion.
In addition to live performances, the festival will screen the film Born to be Blue (2016) about the jazz legend Chet Baker’s musical comeback in the late 1960s.
