Golden Scene Selection: Quality Contemporary Cinema at the Hong Kong Arts Centre

Why We Recommend it
This cherry-picked programme screens three quality movies that were released this year—Gook, The Glass Castle and Redoubtable—over the course of six days.
Description
Co-presented by The Hong Kong Arts Centre and local film distributor Golden Scene, the Golden Scene selection is an ongoing initiative that presents quality films across genres, decades and geographies.
This November, the programme will screen three contemporary quality films. These are as follows:
The Sundance Award-winning film Gook, a drama that tells the story of two Korean American brothers who own a struggling women’s shoe store, and develop an unlikely friendship with an 11 year-old black girl during the first day of the 1992 Los Angeles riots;.
The Glass Castle, a biographical drama film chronicling the life of a young woman who, having growing up in a dysfunctional, resilient and tight-knit family, is determined to carve out a successful life on her own terms.
Redoubtable, a French biographical comedy-drama film about the affair of revered filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard with actress Anne Wiazemsky in the late-1960s.
