Gong Gong Gong’s Art Rock, With Korean Gugak and Jazz

Why We Recommend it

On 8 and 9 August, experimental rock duo Gong Gong Gong joins forces with Ureuk and the Gypsies, pairing transnational rock with traditional Korean gugak music and jazz.

Description

Gong Gong Gong, the transnational rock duo comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist Tom Ng and bassist Joshua Frank, spearheads an electrifying night of musical fusion as they play a show opened by  Ureuk and the Gypsies, a Korean band celebrated for their inventive blend of traditional Korean gugak music and free jazz.

Ureuk and the Gypsies normally perform with nine members, but this time they will perform outside of Korea for the first time with a six-member lineup. They will bring their signature mix of duelling guitars, expressive saxophone and shamanic percussion to the stage.

The collaboration promises a thrilling interplay between Gong Gong Gong’s minimalist rock, characterised by driving, rhythm-focused guitar and bass, and the Gypsies’ dynamic, unpredictable energy.

The shows will take place on 8 August and 9 August. On both days, doors open at 19:00 and performances start at 20:00.
